What it takes to be part of the T4 Mafia

Tough Mentality . Desire to Win . Ability to Go Fast.

Travis Lueckert

Driver of the T4

I am the driver of the T4, and a lifelong racing enthusiast!

Growing up in south Georgia racing pinewood derby's and helping the flagman at the local karting track my love for it started young. As the years progressed the passion for racing only got stronger, and more specifically, for anything on dirt.  After moving up closer to my father, the one who gave me my love for dirt tracks, we started making it our hobby of visiting local tracks around us on the weekends. That quickly turned into us going to over 50 races a year across the states from Knoxville to Charlotte. Every new track we went to had one thing in common, we would find a spot in Turn 4 to sit! Over the last 5 years some great people came out with us to see what the hype was about, and just like that they were hooked as well.  Fast forward a handful of years, and several hundred races later, the conversation started with "I wonder what it would be like to be the one out on the track, and not just in the stands." Some pooling together mixed with some luck of finding a great deal we bought a race car.  Now fueled by a dream of conquering the tracks of the northeast in our 602 modified, both my team and I got to work learning everything there was to know behind the scenes of a race team.

With the help from some great veterans of the sport in our area, we are now living our dream. For me personally it is truly living a combination of dreams. Not only getting to drive a car that the second I sit in drowns out all of life's chaos for those couple laps, but also getting to create content, another passion I have always had my wish for this is to not only get better weekly and move up, but also to show everyone out there that you can chase your dreams. Those people you see on the track looking like they are having the most fun of their lives, those people you watch and laugh at online to escape reality, that can be you! It may have taken 30 years, but the best blind leap I've ever taken was the one I took with a group of friends from the seats in turn 4, to the seat of the T4!

Larry Lueckert

Owner of the T4

Growing up I found myself drawn to all things fast and loud.

This seed was planted by my uncle who got me started working on cars at a very young age. He loved working on cars and would often do so at our house, with my assistance of course.

Moving forward to fifth grade, my teacher, who just so happened to live a few doors down from me, had a brother who used to drag race. I would see him working on his car and would stop, ask questions and help if I could. My teacher and his other brother would often go to local dirt tracks and take me.

This is definitely where my love of Dirt Track racing began. We would go pretty much every week and sometimes two and three tracks in a weekend. From there it continued to grow and when I reached driving age, I would drive myself to these same tracks. I would often wonder what it would be like to actually drive one myself. This, however, would not come to fruition.

In 1992 I married my high school sweetheart and joined the Air Force. Little did we know that two years later she would give birth to our future race car driver. As you can imagine, with all the travelling in the military it was almost impossible to pursue any type of racing. We did however make plenty of trips to the local go-kart dirt track in South Georgia, helping out where we could and thus keeping the desire alive. We would always attend at least one race whenever we would come back home to visit.

Fast forward to 2014. I retired from the military. Our son, who is now an adult, moved away once we returned to the states. A few years later he returned and then we started going to local tracks here and there. This soon grew into going to tracks all over from Knoxville Iowa to Charlotte North Carolina and anything in between. We would go to any race as long as it was on dirt. This grew into a small group of us that would regularly go to the races. We would talk about transitioning from the bleachers to the pits, but it was mostly just talk. Well, last year an opportunity to purchase a car presented itself. I knew right away this was a golden opportunity and Travis was the ideal driver. Our racing crew transitioned from the stands to the pits with us. We currently run a Brett Hamilton modified chassis powered by a 602-crate motor. Our goal is to master this class and move up in classes enjoying all the time spent doing something I've always loved and dreamed of doing.

T4 Merch

I am the drivers mom and head cheerleader! I also get to be in charge of the T4 merchandise; allowing my own hobby of crafting and creativity to shine. To be honest, when Travis(the T4 driver) first came to me with the idea of becoming a race car driver, I was not on board. After seeing his dedication and heart for racing, I quickly changed my mind. Travis has always been able to give 100% to whatever he puts his mind to and for that he always continues to amaze me! Usually as a parent we get to teach our children how wonderful they can be, but with Travis he has taught me and his father so much about believing in one's self and going after your own dreams. I'm not only proud to be his mother, but also his biggest fan!

Social Media

1'm the one behind the camera doing the media. Growing up in Pennsylvania & Florida, I found the love for sports, working on cars and outdoor activities. I never had a chance to follow racing until my husband started working with Travis 3 years ago. He was the one the one that introduced us to the racing world at Lernerville Speedway always sitting in turn 4! Ever since that first race I was obsessed, so every Friday night after work turned into race night. Of course the conversation of buying a car and starting a social media platform was talked about but, we all thought it was just a pipe dream. Until 2024, when Travis and Lucky bought a car after dreaming about it their entire lives. Now here we are with an amazing team, amazing car and an amazing life. Being part of T4 is the best thing I ever experienced and I will forever be grateful for Travis introducing us to this life! The T4 team is now and forever will be my home and family!

Shawn

Crew Chief of the T4

Driven by a passion for motorsports and a love for turning wrenches, I’ve spent years honing my skills in the dirt track racing world. From preparing race cars to diagnosing engine issues mid-race, I know what it takes to keep a car running at its peak, lap after lap.

Whether it's rebuilding engines, fine-tuning suspension, or swapping out parts between races, I’m always working behind the scenes to ensure every car is race-ready and built to win.

I am more than excited to see what the T4 has in store for years to come!

Mikey Smith

Mechanic

I'm the assistant mechanic for the team and lover of all things cars. I was first introduced to the dirt racing world by Travis in 2022, where I was instantly hooked. We've been heavily involved in spectating ever since then.

Aside from that, I'm constantly wrenching on my own cars and even help my friends with their projects when they need a hand. I also love anything music related, whether it's listening to a favorite album, or playing on drums, strings, or even the keys (provided enough time to pluck something out).

When Travis came to me saying he and Lucky actually bought a car, I couldn't believe it! Not to mention he wanted me to help work on the thing.

The idea that we were going to be a race team seemed like such a far fetched idea, and it was actually happening. I think the moment it really became real, was the first time we arrived at Dave Baird's garage. Seeing the orange, hollow frame, I thought to myself, "Holy cow, this is really happening!"

We've been through many ups and downs for the first year of this little team, but I can't wait for what is to come!

In the end, we're family!

A Special Thanks To Lucky....

"Known to me as "Pops"—the man who made this whole dream of racing possible. Thank you, Dad, for letting us live a dream that started out sitting in turn 4's all around the country to running full throttle on dirt tracks every weekend!  Your support and guidance mean everything to me".
